POLITICO unveils 2016 ‘POLITICO 28’
Annual list of the thinkers and doers THINKERS AND DOERS TRANSFORMING EUROPEAN POLITICS
POLITICO unveiled the 2016 POLITICO 28—28 people transforming European politics, policy and ideas.
From London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Ryanair’s Michael O’Leary to populist parvenu Frauke Petry and Spotify CEO Daniel Ek, the people named on the second annual POLITICO 28 are disrupting European public life.
“The POLITICO 28 is our guide to the people likely to shape 2017 and beyond – whether for the good or the bad, well that is for readers to decide for themselves,” said Matthew Kaminski, POLITICO’s European executive editor. “Simply holding a powerful public position in a European country didn’t guarantee a spot on the list. We cast our net widely and solicited nominations from readers. Then editors hashed out – not without a few disagreements – this list of the shakers, stirrers and shapers of our world. And then we ranked them in order of their impact.”
The 2016 POLITICO 28 are: Sadiq Khan (United Kingdom), Frauke Petry (Germany), Michael O’Leary (Ireland), Jaroslaw Kaczyn´ski (Poland), Ada Colau (Spain), Daniel Ek (Sweden), Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (Turkey), Federica Mogherini (Italy), Andreas Georgiou (Greece), George Soros (Hungary), Isabel dos Santos (Portugal), Sebastian Kurz (Austria), Dalia Grybauskaitė (Lithuania), Jeppe Tranholm-Mikkelsen (Denmark), Alice van den Abeele (Belgium), Edouard Perrin (France), Mustafa Akinci (Cyprus), Yngve Slyngstad (Norway), Marietje Schaake (the Netherlands), Andrej Babiš (Czech Republic), Dana Reizniece-Ozola (Latvia), Pekka Rantala (Finland), Irina Bokova (Bulgaria), Khaled Omar Harrah (Syria), Jelena Milic (Serbia), Daphne Caruana Galizia (Malta), Marian Godina (Romania) and Shpend Ahmeti (Kosovo).
